HYDROFORMED ALUMINUM FRAME
We work on the shape and thickness of the walls of our aluminum tubes to increase their strength and resistance to unwanted torsion. To save weight, many of the tubes are assembled in the middle section, away from the stress of joints and welds. The use of advanced technologies such as those we apply to our carbon production guarantees unmatched performance in our aluminum bikes.
DYNAMIC STRUCTURE
The lower half of the frame bears the vast majority of torsional and lateral loads. That's why we've designed the head tube, top tube, and chainstays to withstand these loads and transfer power to the rear wheel. There's no doubt about it: high flex resistance in the lower part of the frame translates directly into more watts at the wheel and a feeling of immediate power transfer.
COMFORT
It is essential to study the behavior of the frame under the weight of the rider in order to adjust the way vibrations are transmitted throughout the upper structure of the frame. The new Alma features thinner seat stays and reduced cross-sectional areas and diameters to provide the seat tube with just the right amount of support and nothing more. The horizontal tube is robust at its junction with the head tube to provide lateral stiffness to the frame, but it immediately tapers to eliminate unnecessary material. Thanks to the flexible patterns that the carbon laminate naturally creates and the use of a minimal amount of material in the top tube and seat stays, we have achieved a dynamic and smooth ride that feels like you are floating above the ground. It is a subtle sensation, but one that is perfectly perceptible and verifiable, and at the end of a tough race, it can make the difference between the podium and the top 10.
