Take control

Efficient millimeters

More travel and better quality Thanks to the magic of our FlexPivot kinematics and Proportional Response suspension, the Scalpel's 120 mm of travel provides more traction and control than ever before, with all the pedaling efficiency and responsiveness you'd expect from a World Cup-caliber bike.

Devilishly fast

Speed starts with geometry, and the Scalpel has the best numbers. It has a slack 66.6° head angle, a more upright 75.5° seat tube angle, and chainstays that grow as the frame size increases, to keep the rider balanced between the wheels. The result? More power and traction on climbs, better control in corners, and a new level of confidence when riding at high speeds.

Beauty that hints at speed

This is not an exercise in aesthetic design. It is pure, hard-nosed design for a purpose. Every single element that shapes the Scalpel has been created with kinematics, lightness, stiffness, and performance in mind. The goal defines the form, rather than the form limiting performance. And fast usually looks spectacular.

Features:

FlexPivot

The FlexPivot rear end is the key to the Scalpel's incredible suspension performance and surprising lightness.  These patented carbon tube sections act as virtual Horst pivots, working like a true 4-bar suspension. This has allowed our engineers to precisely tune the suspension response to pedaling, braking, and terrain impacts without the weight or maintenance of bearings.

Proportional Response Suspension

The way a suspension system responds to terrain or pedaling stimuli is greatly influenced by the rider's center of gravity, yet most designs on the market use exactly the same suspension scheme across all sizes. With our Proportional Response concept, we customize the suspension kinematics for each frame size, allowing us to offer the absolute best performance in terms of absorption, braking, and pedaling.

Advanced geometry

Specific geometry for each frame size ensures that the rider's weight is positioned at the optimum point. The 66.6° head tube angle provides confidence at high speeds. The Vertical 75.5° seat tube angle and increased Reach put you in the perfect pedaling position for power and traction on climbs.

Fly low

It was bound to happen. The dropper post has become a must-have for XC riders too. It lets them instantly raise or lower the saddle on technical or steep sections, allowing them to maintain speed. That's why you'll find it as standard on all Scalpel bikes.

Connected

The integrated wheel sensor reads your activity (such as speed, distance, and calories burned), registers your bike, reminds you when it needs maintenance, and much more, all through the Cannondale app.

The tires you need

Longer travel and more capable geometry on descents meant a rethink of the tires. The 2.4" tires on the new Scalpel have more volume than narrower conventional XC tires, bringing more traction and Control, even on rougher terrain.
