MaxxSpeed
The new MaxxSpeed (2023) is our high-end rubber compound for XC racing. It is a high-silica compound that reduces rolling resistance while improving traction in wet conditions. Compared to the previous 3C MaxxSpeed, the new compound has approximately 25% lower rolling resistance in a laboratory setting (using the same tread pattern, construction, and tire pressure). In the real world, our tests show that the new compound can save up to one minute over the course of a 90-minute race.
EXO
EXO is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This dense fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that tire performance is not compromised. Choose EXO protection for increased durability on Gravel, XC, and light Trail riding.
Tubeless Ready
Tubeless Ready tires offer riders many advantages: the ability to use lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance compared to a tube-type tire; and a lower risk of punctures since there is no inner tube. Tubeless tires are identified by the letters “TR” on the sidewall. Tubeless tires must be mounted on compatible rims and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added benefit of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check the sealant regularly and replace it when necessary, as it dries out over time.
